Benjamin (Asher) is born in Hartford, Connecticut.
June 15, 1773
The son of a carpenter, Asher Benjamin grows up in central Massachusetts and writes a series of well-known books on construction techniques. He arrives in Boston in 1803 and becomes one of the city’s most important architects and builds a home for himself at 9 West Cedar Street in 1825.* Benjamin dies in Springfield on July 26, 1845.
